a gentleman and a scholar

Here's Doug coming home from his first day of class. Nothing like anatomy and dental lectures to bring a smile to your face!

He survived his first week of classes. The week before was orientation and apparently it was terribly boring. But this week alone he got back into anatomy (he actually enjoys it), drilled some teeth on a mannequin, carved some more teeth from wax (and did a way good job), and he's wearing scrubs every day for the next 4 years. What more could a man ask for?

Oh Dougy you look so good and so happy! I'm glad that things are going well. How awesome to get to wear scrubs everyday.

Looks like you had so much fun on your drive from Utah...the family and the sites...good times. We miss you guys!

Congratulations, Dr. Doug! (Can I call you Dr. Dough?)

Incidentally, reading the phrase "carved some more teeth from wax" yesterday caused me to have a dream last night in which my teeth fell out of my head and I had to seek wax teeth replacements. I don't even want to know what that means...

Am I the only one whose confused as to why he's wearing scrubs for class? I can only assume, then, it's becuase the class is not 'bookwork' class but more 'hands on' type class?

Also it confuses me becuase ever dentist I've known/been to wears a buttone down shirt and pants that are usually not denim or scrub material. But shoot, I'm not a professional or 'in-training' anything and I wear scrubs! : )

Fair questions, Sis. Young:

Scrubs are what all the students wear every day. If they don't wear scrubs, they have to wear business casual. (PJs vs. Button up shirt... hmmmm...) As for real dentists, more and more are adopting the scrubs look. My bro-in-law has been wearing them since he opened his practice. I suppose it's the cool thing to do now!

As for Jen/Mike's question:

I had no idea, therefore I consider this an extremely fortunate bonus!
