richmond restaurant bucket list

Alright, folks, we only have 8 months or so left in Richmond (what the WHAT?). I want to hit up some of the best restaurants here before it's too late. Some of the favorites we've tried and loved are Kuba Kuba, Strawberry Street Cafe, Pho City, Millie's Diner, La Cabana, and Thai Diner.

What else do you recommend?

Galaxy Diner (fun place, greasy food...loved the fried pickles), pescados(very interesting food), Azurros(yummy italian food, I think you could share a pizza and an apetizer to make it reasonably priced), Acacia, avalon, black sheep(don't get the full sandwich it is giant), cous cous (our favorite is the arancini...mmmm), impenema, Hickory notch grill (awesome bbq and hush puppies located out past manakin sabot), Enzo's (a little more expensive in manakin sabot), Tobacco company (it is expensive, but you can go for lunch and the environment is the best part anyway)....I think there are more, but I am blanking right now.

Heather covered most of the best ones... cous cous, ipanema, pescados, acacia. I would add edo squid for some amazing italian and 8 1/2 which is their pizza/take-out joint. Also tarrants cafe and one of our all-time favs is cafe gutenberg- they serve brunch all day and their gutenburger is the best burger in richmond- maybe anywhere!

Our favorite was The Boat House down in Midlothian. It's one of the only restaurants in Richmond on the water and it is beautiful and the food is awesome.

Also, you absolutely must go to Sally Bell's Kitchen downtown for lunch one day (they're famous for their boxed lunches and cupcakes). If you don't have time for lunch, please please please get a devil's food cupcake with fudge frosting and savor each bite for me! I've been craving one of those cupcakes for months and I don't even love cupcakes. I've seriously considered calling to ask if they would ship me a dozen or so. :)

Man, I was going to say Pho City... and that you needed to go with us. Maybe we can make a date to all go to dinner together?

We eat there so much, we're kind of friends with the owner. He and Ayn have a little thing going on ;)

If you like Greek, Greek 4 U on Patterson is really good. Like you're sitting in someone's Greek grandma's kitchen.

If you like Mediterranean type food - Tripp says The Phonecian (past libbie, but before downtown on Broad) is amazing.

Finally, I second Tarrant's... and if you go when it's cool out I highly recommend the Hot Blue. It's like an old fashioned Turkey Blue Plate special, but awesome-er.
